Son of Christopher T. Gleddie (1875-1965) and Magna Elise Evenson Gleddie, both of Arendal, Norway. In 1910, Christopher and Magna moved their family of three boys from Washburn, Wisconsin to their homestead near Carlstadt, Alberta. Magna tragically died soon after arriving, from diphtheria.
