MRS. JULIA TILSON, 41, SUCCUMBS TO ILLNESS FOLLOWING OPERATION
Death Came Wednesday – Funeral Services to be Held Saturday Morning
The death of Mrs. Julia Barnhizer Tilson, age 41, wife of Frost Tilson, occurred at the home on East Monroe Street, Wednesday afternoon at 4:10, following a week's critical illness from heart complications arising from a goiter operation from which she was making apparent recovery.
The passing of Mrs. Tilson is a distinct loss to a wide circle of friends. Interested in all worthwhile activities in the community, yet her deepest concern was in her home and her family, her husband, Frost W. Tilson, who whom she was married January 12, 1920, and three children, Helen Josephine Means, a daughter by her former marriage to Ora W. Means, whose death occurred eleven years ago; a son, Jack Tilson, age 7, and a daughter, Joan Tilson, two and a half years old. Surviving also are the mother, Mrs. Zelia Barnhizer, widow of the late Edward G. Barnhizer, and a sister, Mrs. Raymond A. Thomas of this city, who shared in her devotion
Engaged in Business ----
Previous to her marriage to Mr. Tilson, she was actively associated for two years with the Means Drug Company, of which firm she was a member at the time of her death.
Mrs. Tilson attended the public schools of Franklin and Franklin college, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Having a natural artistic ability, she also attended Herron Art Institute at Indianapolis.
Her love for flowers and beauty was gratified in the flower garden at her home, which she so generously shared with her neighbors and friends.
She was an active member of the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae club, the Tri Kappa sorority and the Parent-Teacher Association.
At an early age, she united with Grace Methodist Episcopal church. She was a regular attendant of the Loyal Daughters Sunday school class and had served as secretary of the Women's Home Missionary society.
Unselfish devotion to her family and friends and her cheerful disposition are the characteristics which will endure….
