Ruth was born on May 21, 1918 in Sampson County, N.C. to Budd and Sudie (nee Dorman) Allen.
She married John Godley in 1940 and they lived in North Carolina until 1957 when they moved with her family to New Jersey. They then moved to Suffern, which has been her home for the last 36 years.
Mrs. Godley worked for the First National Bank of Totowa for over 25 years. She attended the Faith Assembly Church in Chestnut Ridge, which she loved dearly. Her family was her life.
Ruth was a beloved and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed but now she is with her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her loving children: Mavis Stevens of Suffern, Hilda Tice of Totowa, N.J. and Roselyn Martine of North Carolina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband, John, died in 1987 and her son, Larry Godley, died in 1995.
The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday, February 7, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, N.Y.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 8 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Kenneth Tinch officiating. Interment will follow in Airmont Cemetery.
Memorial donations to Hospice of Rockland would be appreciated."
