George Truett Rogers, 93, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, while riding in the car in the sunshine. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 at Waco Memorial Park with Mitchell Parrish officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey funeral Home.

George Truett was born in East Texas to the late William Thomas and Emma Rogers. He served his country in World War II and was a member of the last Great Generation. He and Ollie Belle Hullum of Teague, were married on Nov. 21, 1941, in Waco. After retirement, the highway was his friend and he lived to drive.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ollie Belle.

Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Ann Bowman and husband, Tom, of Carrollton and Linda Kay Tucker and husband, Richard, of Mandeville, LA; grandchildren, Michael W. Thompson, of Dallas and Jeania Thompson-Christian and husband, Dennis, of Waco; great-grandson, Dareyl Wain Crockett, of Waco; father of his grandchildren, Don Thompson, of Omaha, Texas; lifelong friend, Velma Collins, of Waco; nephew, Don Oliver and wife, Margaret, of Brenham; and niece, June Cox and husband, Gene, of Cypress; and many other family members and friends.
