WOLSEY-The funeral service for Frank A. Allen, 74, former Wolsey postmaster and businessman who died Friday at St. John's Hospital, are set Monday at 2 p.m. at the Wolsey Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Albert W. Peters, Huron will officiate. Burial will be in the Wolsey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Parke Hoskins, Edward Hoskins, Robert Siemens, Frank Balvin, Robert Lindblad and George Boston. Honorary pallbearers wil be members of the United Presbyterian Men's Organization of which Allen was a charter member.
Friends may call Sunday afternoon or evening at the Brooks Funeral Home.
Allen was born Aug. 20, 1889, in Wessington. He began employment in 1919 at the Farmers Mercantile Co. in Wolsey of which he later became owner and manager until 1934. He Married Jennie Montgomery, Jan. 5, 1921
He became the Wolsey postmaster in 1934 and served in that position 13 years. He transferred to the position of rural mail carrier and served until his retirement Aug. 31. 1959.
Allen was a member of the wolsey Presbyterian Church and served as elder 37 years. Currently he was a church trustee and member of the Presbyterian Men's Organization. He was a member of the District Eight National Association of RURAL Letter Carriers and NARCE.
Survivors incluede his widow, Jennie; three sisters; four brother. He was preceded in death by one son, Frank Allen Jr., in infancy, his parents, two brothers and one sister.
The family prefers memorials.
