Services for George Edward Smith, 64, 2220 S. Elm St., will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel.
He died Sunday in his residence. Born in Michigan, he had lived in Muncie more than 60 years. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Douglas Construction Co. He was a former member of American Legion Post 19.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Smith; four sons, Melvin, Danny Ray, and Steven Edward Smith, all of Muncie, and Daniel Duane Smith, Longview, Tex.; two daughters, Katherine McGhghy, Crosby, Tex. and Connie Mae (Mrs. Doyle) Gipe, Longview, Tex.; a brother, Harlan Smith, Muncie; a sister, Jean Smith, Muncie; eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery with American Legion Post 19 conducting a graveside service. Calling at the mortuary will be 2 to 6 p.m. today.
