A grave marker no longer marks this grave site. It was standing in the 1980's when Aubrey Lewis transcribed this cemetery. Name published in her book "Cemeteries of Steuben County" Vol. 1. Married Mary Teeters 1860. One daughter Laura.

Company B 12th Calvary 127 regiment
Serviced TN, ALA, LA and MS.
Lost 171 men mostly to disease (only 16 men killed or mortally wounded).
Records show in hospital at Baton Rouge LA 01 Apr 1865
No records found of discharge /muster out information

The Chaffee Genealogy written by Wm. H. Chaffee 1909, states Alonzo was a bugler who was captured at Vicksburg and imprisoned for 10 months at the infamous Andersonville prison in GA. Paroled and died one day after arriving home. Pg 418
