George Hettenbach was born in Wurttemburg, Germany on November 4, 1850. He immigrated to the United States arriving on May 27, 1882 in New York City on the German ship Oder which had departed Bremen, Germany with a stop in Southampton, England.
On June 7, 1882, George Hettenbach married Rosina Abendschein in Ironton, Ohio and moved to Hermann, Missouri. In September 1883, the Hettenbach family moved to a farm near Aud, Osage County, Missouri.
To this union, there were three children, Emma, born 1883; William Charles, born 1886; and Lillie, born 1891. In September 1933, they moved to Chamois to live with their daughter, Emma Hettenbach Biesemeier. Rosena died on October 8,1933; George died on July 18, 1943
