Sylvia Lawrence Wooley, 91, of Crossett died Friday, January 30, 2004, at Beverly Health Care of Crossett. Born January 30, 1913, in the Pleasant Home community in Jefferson County to George Christopher and Nancy Ellen Phillips Lawrence, she attended school at Pleasant Home and Watson Chapel and was a resident of Pine Bluff before moving to Crossett in 1996. She worked at Davis Hospital and Jefferson Regional Medical Center in the dietary department before retiring in 1964. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett and a charter member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and member of the choir.

Survivors include one son, Floyd Wooley of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Margaret Rice of Crossett and Mary Toon of New Braunfels, TX; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Wooley; nine brothers, Stafford, Pat, Russell, Tambor, Levi, Gilbert, Burke, Glaucus and Oswald Lawrence; three sisters, Barbara Worthen, Dot Wooley and Bessie Lawrence; and twin infants.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 2, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Pine Bluff with Rev. Larry White officiating. Burial was at Memorial Park Cemetery.
