John Boy Ackley, 89, of St. Paul died Thursday, March 25, at his home. He was born March 8, 1915, in Posey Lake, MI. to Sheridan Bristol and Idora Bernice Schock Ackley.
He was a retired machinist and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Hardy and a former member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Jean McClelland Ackley;
six sons: Archie Andrew Ackley of Arkansas, Bobby Ackley, Lawrence Jay Ackley, John Boye Ackley, Sheridan Bristol Ackley and Roger Eugene Ackley, all of Michigan; eight daughters, Betty Jean, Janice Idora, Patti Kay, Mary Laura, Julie Dee and Helen "Patty" Marie, all of Michigan, Laura Jean of North Carolina and Alyce Aileen of Arkansas; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brashears Funeral Home Chapel in Huntsville, with the Rev. Sam Judd officiating. Burial will be at Brashears Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
He was buried in Brashears Cemetery , Saint Paul, Madison , Arkansas. He was living in Arkansas.
