Daughter of Caleb Andrew Corell and Elmira Byrd (Bird) Corell. Wife of William Harvey "Bill" Honaker.

Goldie attended Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood) in Farmville, Virginia, and William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Morris Harvey College at Charleston, and took graduate classes at Marshall University.

She received a Teacher's Certificate and taught school in Roanoke, Virginia for five years, and in Logan County, West Virginia, schools for 33 years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Logan, a member of the Mary Bonar Circle at that church, a member of the American Baptist Women and volunteered for the auxiliary at Logan General Hospital. She was a member of the Logan Chapter No. 60 of the Eastern Star, a past president and parliamentarian of Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society, a member of the Recretational Fellowship of the Presbyterian Church, secretary of the Logan County Retired Teachers Association, former President of the Crescent Garden Club, member of the Suburban Garden Club and a member of the Logan Country Club.
