Gerald Frank Anderson, who served in the Armored Division during World War II, died at the age of 75 at the Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel on Saturday, March 5, 1983.

He was a member of the West Salem American Legion Post and a welder by trade.

He was born the son of Merl Anderson and Nina Gallaway Anderson on June 18, 1907 in Westfield, New York. He married Leona Keiffer in 1942 and she passed away in December 1973. He then married Ica Harms Montgomery on April 5, 1974 at Coeur d alene, Idaho and she still survives.

Also surviving are three step-sons, Jimmie Montgomery of Peking Il.; Bob Montgomery of Mt. Carmel, and Sam Montgomery; five stepdaughters, Geraldine Burton and Dorothy Kramer, both of Mt. Carmel, Il., Betty Tippett of Mason City, Il., Shirley Lemke of West Salem, Il., and Mary Kramer of Smelterville, Idaho; one brother, Kenneth Anderson, of Sarasota, Florida; 44 step-grandchildren and 40 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Donald Anderson; and one step-daughter, Ethel Hershey.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 7 at the Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem with Bro. L.L. Converse officiating. Burial was in Bone Gap Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the West Salem American Legion Post.
