CREMATION

NEWPORT, RI--Daniel Vaughn Talbott, 68, was born in Jackson, TN on July 30, 1937, the son of Dr. William Kirby Walsh Sullivan and Dixie Darling Daniel Sullivan.

Dan died on May 16, 2006 at Newport Hospital of pneumonia.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife Dianne Lacey-Baker Talbott by six months.

He is survived by his son, Roger Talbott; his grandchildren, Amber, Brett, Cameron and Daniel (Addie) Talbott; his great-grandson, Bailey Talbott; a step-son, James (Danni) Lacey-Baker; his sister, Sheila (Mrs. William) Niles; his brother, Dr. Peter (Jean) Sullivan; other nieces and nephews, loving relatives and friends throughout the country.

Dan developed a revolutionary process to improve the function of wicking perspiration away from the skin in sports apparel. He was a passionate sportsman. In his younger years, Dan raced Formula 1 sports cars. He also raced maxi-yachts across the Pacific Ocean. His interest and passion for sailing continued until the day he died.

One of Dan's finest personal achievements was his association with Bill W., whom he met exactly 19 years prior to the date of his death.

Dan considered Newport, RI to be his home and participated in many community activities and conferences at the Naval War College.

Dan's ashes will be committed to the sea from the Schooner "Tree of Life", Friday afternoon, May 19, 2006.

Friends may join family members at the Newport Marina on Howard's Wharf for boarding at 12:30 p.m.

He will be greatly missed.
