Funeral services for Beatrice Sullivan, 83 years, were held Saturday, June 17 at 2 p.m. at the Berean Bible Church. Burial followed in the Haxtun Cemetery.


Beatrice Amarinthia Sullivan, the daughter of Guy and Ada (Johnson) Atkinson, was born November 29, 1905 in Bertrand, Nebraska and died on June 13, 1989 in Elwood, Nebraska.


Beatrice moved to Haxtun with her family in 1915. She graduated from Haxtun High School with the class of 1925. Following her graduation, she was united in marriage to Clyde Sullivan and they made their home on a farm south of Haxtun. In 1940 they moved to Phelps County, Nebraska, and farmed in the Loomis and Bertrand areas until returning to Haxtun in 1950. They later moved to Denver where she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, in 1964. Following his death, Beatrice returned to Holdrege where she has resided until her death.


Survivors include six sons: Lowell and his wife, Irma, Holdrege; Orville and his wife, Carolyn, Loomis; LeRoy and his wife, Katharine, Oberlin, Kansas; Clyde and his wife, Beverly, Riverside, California; Dean and his wife, Margery, Mesa, Arizona; and Dale and his wife, Sheryl, Houghton, Michigan; 34 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; one brother Lydell Atkinson, Holdrege; and many sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other relatives.


She was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; one daughter, Lorraine, in infancy; her parents; three brothers; Joe, Arland and James Atkinson; and one sister, Beulah Atkinson.
