KEARNEY — Marvin Wayne Beatty, 74, of Kearney died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dustin Lappe officiating.
O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born June 26, 1939, in Arnold to Archie and Donna (Koch) Beatty.

He married JoAnn Franssen.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years; children, Marcia Brouillette and her husband, Roger, of Lincoln, Michael Beatty and his wife, Stacy, of Kearney, Janet Callahan and Tim Rosentrater of Callaway, Lorie Hauser and Dan Denson of Broken Bow and Larry Smorgala and his wife, Holly, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Matthew, Madison, Sherri, Melissa, Cory, Kelsey, Justin, Haden, Taylor and Cody; great-grandchildren, Trey, Kenyon, Keyshon and Sydnee; brother, Denny Beatty and his wife, Peggy, of Arnold; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. A special thank you also goes out to Annita Uwamahoro for her help during times of need.

Marvin was a graduate of Gandy High School and later served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1963. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Arnold. In 2005, he retired to Kearney with his loving wife, JoAnn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Melissa.
