Ana Lee (Dea) Bishop Gonyou passed away on December 2, 2013, after a short illness. She was 86 years old.

Ana Lee was born in Tucumcari, New Mexico on August 24, 1927, and was the only daughter of Kenneth E. Bishop and Mildred S. Honeycutt Bishop.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 61 years, James F. Gonyou.

The Bishops were cattle ranchers in New Mexico, Texas, and Colorado, and Ana Lee grew up riding horses at an early age.

She attended grade school in New Mexico and graduated from high school in Burlington, Colorado. While attending high school she was president of the Pep Club and Homecoming Queen.

She was awarded a scholarship to attend C.S.C.E., now known as UNC, in Greeley, Colorado. She majored in Elementary Education, belonged to Sigma Sigma Sigma, and was nominated for the Spud Rodeo Queen, now known as the Greeley Stampede.

After college she married James F. Gonyou, an Agriculturist for Great Western Sugar Company and they lived in northern Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado.

Ana Lee is survived by her three children: Edwin E. Gonyou (Sue); Linda L. Huckfeldt (Matt); and Susan A. Barttelbort (Larry). She was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Ana, Christy, Heidi, Eric, Brita, Tanner, Clint, and Tyler and 7 great grandchildren.

Ana Lee taught school for 17 years in Wyoming and Colorado, then retired and worked in real estate for several years in Brighton and Longmont, retiring in Longmont.

She was a long-time member of Westview Presbyterian Church, and was an accomplished oil painter, floral designer, and stained glass artist.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Westview Presbyterian Church, 1500 Hover Street, Longmont, Colorado.

The family suggests that donations be made to Westview Presbyterian Church storm restoration fund in care of the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
