Harold Don Johnson of Ogden, Utah was born on April 14, 1917 in Bancroft, ID to Florence Jacobsen and Harold Leon Johnson. He married Betty Lee Hefty on March 7, 1942 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Don was a hard worker and spent his early career selling sporting goods and hardware to retail stores. He followed that with many years as a contract administrator for Jetway Equipment Corporation.

Don was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings throughout his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II (1942 – 1945), in both North Africa and Italy. Following his military service he earned a Bachelor degree from the college of business at the University of Utah.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He set a wonderful example of kindness and service to all who knew him.

Don is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Betty Lee Johnson. He is also survived by his son, David (Debi) Johnson of Ogden, Utah, and his daughter, Janilee Johnson of Barrington, Illinois. He has eight grandchildren, Logan Johnson Fry, Lucas Johnson Fry, Jessica Johnson, Don (Paola) Johnson, Melissa (Sione) Pomale, Anna (Christian) Whittier, Max Johnson, and Janilee Johnson. He also has four great-grandchildren, Danielle and Camille Johnson, Brylee Shumway, and Noa Pomale.

He passed from this mortal life on July 1, 2014 from cause's incident to age. Prior to his passing, he was surrounded by his loving family, his wife, son, and daughter, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Venetta Bell.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. the Burch Creek 5th Ward Chapel, 4955 Adams Avenue, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Services entrusted to Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the loving hospice care workers from Legacy Health Care and also to the staff at Legacy Village of Layton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.Woundedwarriorproject.org. would be appreciated by the family.
