Funeral services for Cpl. Charles M. Fontaine, former Muncie resident, who was killed in action December 9, 1943, in the Solomon Islands, will be conducted at the Piepho funeral home at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, the Rev. Lewis E. Maples in charge. American Legion Post 19 of Muncie will have charge of military rites. Burial will be in the American Legion plot at Beech Grove Cemetery, where the father, Samule F. Fontaine, is buried. The father was a veteran of World War I.

Corporal Fontaine was born in this city and was graduated from Shortridge High School, Indianapolis. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in July, 1941, and after basic training served one year as a member of the personnel staff of Admiral Nimitz. He returned to the states for special paratroop training and was then reassigned to the Pacific area. He was temporarily buried in Bougainville Cemetery.

Surviving are the mother, Mrs. Violet Fontaine Ray of Inglewood, Calif.; two brothers, John Fontaine of Hollywood, Calif., and William Fontaine of Houston, Tex., and two aunts, Mrs. James Fletcher and Mrs. Frank Pelham, both of Muncie.

The body arrived in the city Monday night and was taken to the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 o'clock Friday night or on Saturday morning prior to the rites.
