Joseph I. Leben 90 of Grayslake formerly of Waukegan passed away on Sunday December 2, 2012 at home.
Born August 18, 1922 in North Chicago he married Alice Liska on June 22, 1946 in Chicago. He worked for US Steel-Cyclone Fence for 35 years retiring in 1976. He finished his career at Tenth Street Hardware in Waukegan. Joe was a member of Prince of Peace Church in Lake Villa. He loved to play golf and fish. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII. He was a former member of the North Chicago American Legion Sharvin Post, KSKJ St. Joseph Lodge #53, US Steel Retiree's Club, Korus Social Club and the Norstates Ambassador's Club.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years Alice, three children Marilyn (Steven) Rodbro of Beach Park, IL, Kenneth (Katherine) Leben of Wadsworth, IL and Gregory (Mary) Leben of Antioch, IL; four grandchildren Andrew (Tom) Rodbro of Chicago, IL, Eric (Amy) Rodbro of Naperville, IL, Matthew (Fiance' Laura) Rodbro of Beach Park, IL and Kristen (Chris) Lybrook of Lindenhurst, IL, one great grandson Grayson Michael Lybrook, one nephew Robert Leben and nieces Bernice (Bill) Jordan and Carol Leben as well as dear friends Stan & Martha Trygar. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Stanley, one sister Margaret and one grandson Scott Leben.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm Wednesday December 5, 2012 at the Salata Gurnee Funeral Home; 4190 Old Grand Ave., Gurnee and on Thursday December 6, 2012 from 9-10am at Prince of Peace Church in Lake Villa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am with interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville with military honors.
Donations may be made in Joe's memory to either the American Cancer Society or Prince of Peace Church.
