Mrs. Mildred Evelyn Shivers, 89, of Valley died at her residence on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Jerome King officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Lanett.

Mrs. Shivers is survived by three daughters, Margaret M. Ennis of Valley, Louise L. (Jimmy) Smith of Magnolia, Miss., and Doris Marilyn Suttles of Valley; eight grandchildren, Tommy G. Sellers of Philadelphia, Pa., Michael R. Sellers of Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, La., Jimmy (Tibethia) Smith Jr. of McComb, Miss., Timothy (Karen) Smith of Magnolia, Joy (Gary) Pattison of Ketchan, Alaska, Jerry (Annette) Engelman of Wrangell, Ark., Chris Engelman of Alaska and Michael R. Weldon of Greenville, Ga.; eight great-grandchildren, Alicia (Nick) Harrington of Walker, La., Tabitha (Danny) Lesley of Liberty, Miss., Phillip Smith, Mathew (Brandy) Smith, Amy Smith, Angie (Matt) Zellmer, A.J. Pattison and wife and Kaitlyn Pattison; and 10 great-greatgrandchildren.

Born in Chambers County Jan. 5, 1914, Mrs. Shivers was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Manchester, Ga. She was very active in her church. She had a very green thumb and loved to crochet. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William C. McKee and Ealie L. Shivers; her daughter, Brenda Schwerin; and her grandson, Robert Weldon.

The family will receive friends Friday Dec. 26 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
