Obituary from Wayne County Press, undated: Lewis Barnard, 78, well-known retired farmer of the Bailey community north of Wayne City, died at Memorial hospital at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Barnard suffered a heart attack while visiting at the home of a son in Park Ridge 10 days ago and was brought to Memorial hospital by Long's ambulance service Wednesday. He spent his entire life in the Bailey vicinity. Rites Conducted Funeral services were conducted from the Bailey church Monday afternoon (today), with Rev. Guy Roney officiating, assisted by Rev. Jesse Miller. Interment was in Bailey cemetery. Long's Funeral Home was in charge. Lewis, son of Eli and Melvina Henson Barnard, was born in Wayne county July 5th, 1890. He was married to Clara Ellis November 26th, 1914, with four children born to their union. A son, Dale, died in infancy. Mr. Barnard was converted to Christ years ago and was of the General Baptist faith. The Survivors Surviving are his widow, Clara; two sons, Cecil, of Oak Forest; and Donald, of Park Ridge; one daughter, Dorothy, wife of Sidney Hale, of Sullivan, Ind., five grandchildren; three brothers, Edgar Barnard, Wayne City; Ralph Barnard, Cisne; and Elmer Barnard, Johnsonville; and one sister, Mrs. Haley Shaw, of Wayne City.
