Born Sunday, February 15, 1920 at home in Liberty Township, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Morris Kibby Voorhis and the late Haze Grace (Hanger) Voorhis. She was a graduate of Fairmount High School and married Harry J. Warr on November 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on February 9, 2000. They had a son Jerry A. Warr of Summitville, IN.
Ann was a reporter for the Chronicle Tribune Newspaper from 1960 -1990 as well as contributing articles for other newspapers in the surrounding area. She was a dedicated volunteer helping establish the Fairmount Museum Since 1975. On July 22, 1985 she was given the official title of Fairmount Historian. Ann appeared on the Oprah show in 1996 for the "Your Towns Claim to Fame" segment to discuss Fairmount and James Dean. Ann and Harry served as the Grand Marshal of the Museum Days Parade the same year. She was a recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash award.
She was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church, served on the Fairmount Library Board, was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #773 for over 50 years and served as a past President. She was also a 50 plus year member of the Eastern Star #277 past Worthy Matron and also the treasurer for 42 years.
A Funeral service will be at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 8 on at Fairmount Chapel Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services located at 415 S. Main St. Fairmount, Indiana 46928 with the Pastor Dawn Cuthbert officiating. Interment will be in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, IN.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Monday, July 7, 2014, at Fairmount Chapel with an Eastern Star Service at 7 PM.
