Jerry W. Davis, 51, of Rossville, died at 10:11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the emergency room at Howard County Community Hospital, Kokomo, after becoming ill at work.

Born June 26, 1945, in Lafayette, he grew up in Mulberry and graduated from Clinton Prairie High School in 1963. He came to Rossville in 1990 and previously lived in Burlington and Kokomo. He was a machine operator at Chrysler Transmission Plant in Kokomo where he had worked for 32 years. He was a cargo master in the Air Force four years and was stationed in Thailand, the Philippines and Rantoul, Ill. He was a member of United Auto Workers Union Local in Kokomo and he enjoyed gardening and yard work.

His marriage was to Patricia Hitch on Nov. 11, 1989 in Oxford. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, Martha E. Hoste Davis of Lafayette; and four brothers, Dennis C. Davis of Flora, Robert M. Davis and Jeffrey L. Davis, both of Lafayette, and J.A. Davis with the Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.
