GW Brigman of Denmark, SC passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014, after a brief illness with cancer.
GW was born September 5, 1936 in Dillon County, the son of Welk B. Brigman and Golda Bass Brigman. He was predeceased by sisters Jean Brigman McKellar and Nell Atkinson.

Surviving are his wife Linda Hodges Brigman of Denmark, SC; son, Gregory Wendell Brigman (Cely Anne) of Darlington, SC; step-daughters, Lynda Kaye Martin (Chuck) of Blythewood, SC, Margaret Ann Emery (Greg) of East Poland, Maine, step-sons, James Charles Bragg (Kim) of Greenville, SC and Barry Michael Bragg of Charlottesville, VA; grandchild, Sarah Brigman, step-grandchildren; Lauren Emery, Logan Bragg, Ethan Bragg, Heather Strait, Kalyn Bragg, Emma Reynolds, Baker Reynolds and step great-grandchild, Hank Bragg.

GW joined the US Army in 1959 and served for two years in the Military Police. He was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason in 1968 at St. David's Lodge #72 AFM in Darlington, SC; where he served as coach for many years. He worked in the grocery business for 27 years and was an active member of the Darlington Rescue Squad until 1976. After moving to Bamberg, he joined the Bamberg Rescue Squad where he served as Captain and became an Emergency Medical Technician. He later joined the Bamberg County Sheriff's Department where he served for 23 years retiring as Major in 2000. He was also a member of Ghents Branch Baptist Church and the New Hope Sunday School Class. GW loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, who graciously shared the bounty of his labor with friends and family.

The family will have visitation at Ghents Branch Baptist Church on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at Ghents Branch Baptist Church on Wednesday, July 2, at 2:00pm with the burial immediately following at Limestone United Methodist Church in Orangeburg.

The family would like to thank the Diem families for their unconditional love, comfort and support given to both GW and Linda.
