Norma Faye Kigar
Norma Faye Kigar, 76, of Bible Grove died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Scotland County Hospital.
She was born the daughter of Elza Ellery and Mary Lula (Shultz) Swearingen on November 17, 1937 in rural Scotland County.
Norma graduated from the Bible Grove High School in 1955.
She married Leo Richard Kigar on April 30, 1955 at his parent's home south of Bible Grove. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2002.
The Kigars spent their entire lives in Bible Grove, except for a short time in Germany while Richard was in the service. She was a cook at the Bible Grove School.
She was baptized on November 24, 1954 and was a member of the Bible Grove Christian Church.
Norma enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, whether it was outside playing baseball and "Annie Over", or inside putting together puzzles or playing Monopoly. Norma enjoyed working on the farm with Richard, being with her family, having fried chicken at the nutrition site, sweets and attending church at Bible Grove.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; her brothers Jessie Swearingen, Dorsey "Ike" Swearingen, and Larry Swearingen; sisters, Mildred Wilson and Arleta Sunderland.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Richard Kigar and his wife Debbie and James Lee Kigar and his wife Alisa, all of Bible Grove; grandchildren, Cordie Lee Kigar, Eli Richard Kigar, and Elsie Elaine Kigar, all of Bible Grove; a brother, Henry "Rick" Swearingen of Springfield, IL; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Bible Grove Christian Church with Brother Gary Fifer officiating. Burial will be in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 12-8 p.m., Monday at the Gerth Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
