Sybil Audrey Abbott Melhorn, 85, departed this life Saturday November 2, 2013, at Manor House Lancaster. Born January 15, 1928 at Lillian, AL, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Welcome and Janice (Mashburn) Abbott. She was raised on the Gulf Coast at Perdido Beach and Bay Minette, AL, and graduated from Bay Minette High School in 1945.

She married Charles H. Reitz at Mobile, AL in 1946 and they lived in Allentown, PA until moving to Lancaster in 1954. She was a skilled assembler for Western Electric and Schick, and last worked for Weinstock-Conestoga.

Feb. 29, 1968 she married Willis S. Melhorn, who preceded her in death September 8, 2005.

She is survived by two daughters, Eileen Sparks of Maryland and Michele (Star) Milster of Arizona; two sons, Paul Reitz of Massachusetts and John Reitz of Florida; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Allison Reitz.

She was a wonderful cook, with her Southern specialties. She enjoyed bowling, and had a 'green thumb' for flowers and plants, and gardening. She was a long-term cancer survivor.

According to her wishes, there will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico.
