Alviron "Al" Aloysius Van Driesen, 64, of the 4000 block of W. Colonial Parkway, went home to be with the Lord on April 9, 2004. Al was a man to be admired for his faith in God, kind heart, and sense of humor.

Al was born in Carbondale, PA, and was the son of the late Alviron Van Driesen and Helen O'Malley Van Driesen. He retired from the U. S. Navy following 20 years of service, and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed with B.A.E. Systems in Logistics. He was a member of Word and Worship Fellowship where he was very active.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa M. Van Driesen; three daughters, Larinda Van Driesen, Teresa Sigmond and Cheryl Hombroek; seven sons, Donald, Joseph, Alan, Ronald, Dwayne, Richard and Edward; five sisters, Mary Marion, Lorraine Hencheck, Betty Becker, Alice Van Driesen and Pat Van Driesen; one brother, Jerry Van Driesen; and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Van Driesen.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Hollomon-Brown funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel by Pastor Richard A. Pickens. Burial will follow in Colonial Grove Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Word and Worship Fellowship Building Fund, 1620 Handcross Way, Virginia Beach, VA 23456.
