Rev. Douglas (Doug) Ray Waller, age 71, of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in Wilkes County, North Carolina.
Rev. Waller was born in Wytheville, Virginia to the late Raymond Lee Waller, and wife, Dora Lillian (Alley) Waller on Friday, January 1, 1943. He is married to Ruby (Harrold) Billings Waller of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. He attended Zion Baptist Church and Living Waters Church . He was veteran of the United States Army and was awarded an expert badge and rifle bar medal and sharpshooter badge and rifle bar medal. He also served as a member with the VFW of Wilkes.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Waller is preceded in death by four brothers; Rev. John "Booty" Waller, Rev. Robert "Bobby" Waller, Gary Waller and Maynard Waller.
Rev. Waller is survived by his spouse, Ruby (Harrold) Billings Waller of the home; a daughter, Michelle Waller of Virginia; a son, Jeff Waller, of Georgia; three step-daughters, Phyllis Barker and husband, Jessie, of Hays, North Carolina, Melissa Winebarger of Tennessee and Melinda Gregory and husband, David, of North Carolina. Also to cherish his memory are, four grandchildren and twelve step-grandchildren.
The Waller family will receive friends 1:30PM to 2:45PM, Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church, 285 Zion Church Road, Hays, North Carolina.
The funeral service for Rev. Waller will be held at 3:00PM on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Zion Baptist Church, 285 Zion Church Road, Hays, North Carolina. Burial will follow at the Zion Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Wade Harrold and Rev. Billy Shepherd will be officiating.
