Donald L. Dillman was called home on June 25, 2014 after many courageous battles. He is now peacefully at rest. He was born January 16, 1929 in Canton, Ohio to William H. and Hazel G. Dillman. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Coast Guard. Don and Elsie were married on January 13, 1951. He worked for Quinn R. Barton Company for over 15 years before starting his own business. He owned and operated Don's Tuck Service for over 35 years and was an active member of Dinsmore United Methodist Church for over 64 years, until his illness. Don helped many through years with his generosity and kindness. He was a wonderful, loving, caring and generous husband, daddy and papa. He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 63 ½ years, Elsie Keen Dillman; son, Michael (Theresa); daughter, Susan; 2 granddaughters, Suzanne and Lisa (David) Foskey; 1 grandson, 7 great grands, as well as a sister, Doris Askew, of Springfield, MO., sister-in-law, Marguerite Jones, along with many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends, and a special friend, Jessie Wiggins. Through the years, friends were always welcomed and many great memories were made at the lake house in Hawthorne, where he taught many to water ski and play canasta. He will be deeply missed, but we have honored his wishes and our love goes with him. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 28, in the chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 1426 Rowe Avenue, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Services will be conducted by his nephew, Rev. Fred Davis, of Richmond, British Columbia, Canada and Pastor Al Hicks. The family will receive family and friends at their home after the committal services. Donations may be made in Don's memory to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. (www.communityhospice.com). The family extends their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ira Harmon, the staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center (at Lem Turner and Capper) and our wonderful North Team and staff at Community Hospice.
