Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Saturday, June 28, 2014, Mr. Hanford "Smitty" Delano Smithson, 85, loving husband of 61 years to the late Ella Carolyn Smithson.

Mr. Smithson retired from Foremost Pipeline as a pipeline welder for over 50 years. He served in the United States Air Force and military police during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Mann Memorial United Methodist Church and the George Walton Lodge #699 F & AM.

Family members include son: Steve Smithson (Jackie); daughter: Vicki Jankovich (Nick); grandchildren: Justin Smithson (Elizabeth), Brittany Smithson and her fiancé Josh Swicegood; great grandson: Hayes Smithson; sisters: Mary Ellen Coulter, Teresa McIntosh, Belva Brewer; and brothers: Gaylord Smithson (Betti), Tommy Smithson (Mary), and Glenn Smithson (Brenda). He is preceded in death by his brother, Clelman Smithson (Dean).

Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in Mann Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Sonny Mason officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
