File says he left the state December 3, 1915 to visit his son in Gracemount, Oklahoma and became ill. He was not able to return until September 24, 1916. letters from four men who served with him. He enlisted February 1, 1863. He received a pension in 1909 from the state of Texas #15580.

He is on the 1870 census for Lamar County, Texas. He married Mira L. Dodson in Lamar County, Texas on January 28, 1869.
