Emmet James Baker Sr., 86, of Gonzales, died Friday, Dec. 31, 2004.

He was born Oct. 26, 1918 in Pilgrim to the late Herbert Baker and Mary Hester. He was a farmer and a rancher. He served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the American Legion Post #40, the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #4817, and 1st Lutheran Church in Gonzales.

He is survived by his daughters, Mariann Christine Kitzman and husband Charley of Pattison and Ilene May Gohmert of Cuero; sons, Ronald R. Baker and wife Sandra, Emmet J. Baker Jr. and wife Judy, and Lee Baker and wife Janet, all of Gonzales; sister, Bertha Null of Gonzales; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Bessie Sternadel; parents; and three siblings.

Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 2 at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services were Monday at the funeral home, Pastor Ildiko Rigney officiated. Interment followed at Ebenezer Cemetery. Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales, 830-672-3232.

Pallbearers: Darryl Baker, Brian Baker, Bradley Baker, Christopher Gohmert, Brent Baker, Tinker Brown, and Jeremy Cook.
