Gladys Weldon Boedeker, 99, of Levelland died Thursday, June 26, 2014. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in City of Levelland Cemetery. George Price Funeral Home, Levelland.

LEVELLAND - Gladys Weldon Boedeker passed away Thursday June the 26th. 2014.

Gladys was born on April 8, 1915 in Clinton, Texas. Her parents were Bruce Weldon and Clara Ann (Massey) Baer. She grew up in Texline, Texas, with three brothers and three sisters.

She attended West Texas State College where she met her husband, E.W. Bill Boedeker. They were married on May 4, 1944, and moved to Hockley County in 1947.

She was an avid reader and shared her love of reading through teaching. She taught school for over 20 years in Dumas, Ropesville, West Elementary, and Capitol Elementary.

Gladys was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a dedicated volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels for many years. She believed in service to others and exemplified that throughout her life. She lived 99 full years of life traveling through nearly all 50 states over the years, with an incredible strong will and immeasurable love for her family and close friends.

She is survived by her two children, Don Boedeker and Iris Keeling; son-in-law, George Keeling; granddaughter, Alycyn ; many nieces and nephews; special friends Jamie Therwhanger, Cinthia Jordan, Mary Jane Dishon; and the wonderful staff at the Bee Hive of Levelland who also cared for her for the past six years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years; her parents; brothers, Arthur Baer, Lawson Baer, and Cecil Baer; sisters, Ole Mae Baer Brady, Edna Baer Smith, and Wynn Baer Oldham.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 30, 2014, at First United Methodist Church in Levelland, under the direction of George Price Funeral Home. The family will have a time for visitation at the home of George and Iris Keeling on Sunday, June 29, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Levelland Area Endowment Foundation at P.O. Box 1115, Levelland, Texas 79336 or http://www.levellandareaendowment.org.
