BRENDA GORMLY, age 70 of Alvin, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 27, 2014 at her residence. Brenda was born on November 23, 1943 in Kerens, Texas to Clyde and Darlene Andrews in Elm Flat, Texas. She graduated from Kerens High School in 1962, and continued to become an x-ray technician.
Brenda married the love of her life, Freddy, in Corsicana, in 1969, and moved to Alvin in 1970. She continued working in the medical field as an x-ray technician until she co-founded Gormly Surveying in 1977 with her loving husband Freddy. She loved the Alvin community and strived every day to make it a better place. She also had a passion for history, family genealogical research, and cooking. It gave her great pleasure to make a cake or a pie for her grandchildren, and watch the smiles on their faces. Brenda was a member of the Alvin Museum Society and a member of South Park Baptist Church.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; She is survived by her loving husband, Freddy Gormly; sons, Shane Gormly and wife Shannon, and Chad Gormly and wife Meagan; brother, Dwain Andrews; grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew, Harrison and Graham; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Alfred Froberg, Scott Reed, Keith Thompson, Terry Droege, Jim Landriualt, and Terry Lucas.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Scott Funeral Home with Strom Duke officiating. Interment will follow at the City of Alvin Oak Park Cemetery, Alvin, Texas.
