Russell Register, Thursday, September 20, 1883

"Mr. Robert B Alexander, son of Mr. William Alexander, of Oswichee, Ala., died at Quincy, Fla., on last Saturday. The deceased was raised in Russell county and had here many friends. His remains were brought up by the passenger train last Monday morning accompanied by his brother John C., and were buried at Oswichee that day. For several years he has been away from our section first living in Mississippi, and then engaged on the Pensacola and Atlantic Railroad. But he always regarded Russell as his home and made occasional visits to relatives here. He was sick only three days, had an attack of congestion, which quickly cut him down in the prime of his young manhood. He was a most companionable, genial man, popular and amiable. His many friends in our midst sympathize deeply with the bereaved family in the loss of so pure and affectionate a son and brother."
