William Arthur Anderson, 75, Montpelier resident for the past 29 years, died suddenly of a heart attack at about 2:30 pm Monday. He was born in Lewiston, Utah, the son of Rasmus and Annie Nelson Anderson. Following a long service with the Union Pacific Railroad which started in Cache Valley and continued at Montpelier from June 13, 1929, he retired as roadmaster Just 27, 1945. Mr. Anderson spent his early life in Cache Valley.
Mr. Anderson was a member of OES Betsy Ross Chapter No 17 and King Solomon Lodge No 27, AF & AM Montpelier; and Scottish Rite and El Kalah Temple Shrine at Salt Lake City. An ardent sportsman, Mr. Anderson was an active member of the Rainbow Rod and Gun Club for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E Teuscher Anderson, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Frank H (Edith) Herr of Sterling Idaho, Mrs. Norman (Beverly) Newsham of Chula Vista, California; two sons, Lyndon K Anderson of Montpelier, and Terence W Anderson of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Mrs. Oliver Peterson of Pasadena, California and Mrs. Delbert Price of Wendell Idaho; three brothers, Oliver Anderson of Burbank, California, Albert and Leslie H Anderson, both of Pocatello; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 pm Saturday in the Community Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Montpelier cemetery. The Matthews Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
