Ruth met Calvert James Merren when he was employed in the Hendersonville-Spartanburg area as a telegraph and telephone foreman for American Telegraph and Telephone Company.
They were married in 1916 and departed for several visits with his family in the Grand Cayman Islands, British West Indies.
Calvert died in 1953.
Ruth never remarried. She attended the Presbyterian church in Hialeah.
Survivors include a brother, Jerry W. Flynn, of Hendersonville, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, at 1 PM at the chapel of Branam Funeral Home in Homestead, Fl.
Interment followed in Woodlawn.
