Albert E. Appell, age 85, of Sayreville, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, June 23, 2014 with his loving and devoted family at his side. Born in Sayreville he was a life long borough resident. Before his retirement he was employed by Hercules Inc from 1948 to 1958, National Lead Industries from 1958 to 1976, Hercules Inc 1977 to 1989 and after his retirement Sayreville Board of Education Middle School as a custodian. Mr. Appell was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, a member of Sayreville American Legion Post 211 and a life long communicant of Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville.

He is predeceased by his parents Albert J. & Anna Marie Weis Appell, his son Alan Appell in 2006 and his daughter Cindy Rose Delmotte in 2008. Surviving are his wife of 64 years Rose Krakowski Appell, his children and their spouses Sharon Appell & Charles Marzano of Sayreville, Susie & Glenn Unkel of Glen Gardner, Amy & Alan Martin of East Windsor, Brian & Sabrina Appell of Little Silver and Barry Appell & Patricia Sauer of Plainsboro, his daughter in law Margaret Appell of Howell, his son in law Arthur Delmotte of Sayreville, his grandchildren Abigail, Lindsay, Jacob, James, Jessica, Sean, Matthew, Ryan, Marissa, Tommy, Samantha, Ali, Dana, and Lisa, his great granddaughter Shailei and his sister Elaine Bau of Florida.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 8:30am from the Maliszewski Memorial Home, 121 Main Street, Sayreville followed by a 9am mass at Our Lady of Victories R. C. Church in Sayreville with burial to follow at New Calvary Cemetery, Parlin. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held Friday from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Members of American Legions Post 211 will hold military services Friday 7:15pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations in Albert's name be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
