MRS. BORDWELL DIES; LITCHVILLE PIONEER

Mrs. Mary A. (Lewis C.) Bordwell (one of the founders of Litchville) passed away Friday, Aug. 10 at a Valley City hospital at the age of 82 years.

Mary A. Auth was born June 23, 1874, at Arkansas, Wis., the daughter of Garrett and Augusta Auth. She was married to Lewis C. Bordwell on Feb. 26, 1896, in Arkansas, Wis., and came from there directly to Valley City.

From 1904 to 1906 Mr. Bordwell operated an implement business at Litchville. He was also the first president of the First National Bank and also served as the first mayor of Litchville. He passed away in 1913.

From 1924 to 1942 Mrs. Bordwell operated a large farm near Wimbledon, N.D., then she moved to Valley City where she has resided since.

She leaves as survivors: 2 sisters, Josie, Mrs. James Liddy, of Durand, Wis.; and Mrs. Evelyn E. Hermann of Bismarck; one brother, John Auth, Durand Wis., and a number of nephews and nieces. Two brothers preceded her in death.

Requiem Mass was conducted at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning, Aug. 14, at St. Catherine's Church, in Valley City, Father James Dawson officiating. The Rosary was recited at eight Monday evening at the Hub Peterson Funeral Home.
