Miss Buchanan married Thomas E. Graue of Johnson, Arkansas in 1944 and moved to Fayetteville. Here she taught at Fayetteville High School in 1950. In 1954 they adopted a son, Doug. Lila was a co-owner and teacher of the College Ave. Nursery and Kindergarten for over 20 years. She was active in her church, Sequoyah United Methodist, active being an Exchangette in the Exchange Club, and volunteering with the Washington Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. She and Tom loved RV camping as members of the Razorback Sam's club. She was a long-time member of the Ladies' Auxiliary and enjoyed volunteering her time and cooking for events and charities. Known as "B", she was a devoted wife, mother and excellent cook. Lila has been a much-loved resident of Brookstone Assisted Living since 2012.
She is preceded in death by husband, Tom, and brother, James M. Buchanan, Jr., who was an Economics Scholar and Nobel Laureate. Survived by son and wife, Doug and Sandy Graue, sister, Elizabeth Bradley, granddaughter, Chris Graue, nephews Jeff and Jim Worley and great grandchildren Christopher and Ceara.
A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fayetteville. Memorial Funeral Home 3926 Willowood Avenue, Springdale handled the cremation arrangements.
