Beloved son of Shade Summerford and Susan Emmajane "Emma" Tucker Summerford. He was first married to Addie Tanner whom he had a daughter and son with. Sadly, Addie died in childbirth of their second child. He was then the husband of Ruby McDonald Summerford. Their children were James Gavens Summerford, John Gurvin Summerford Jr, Mae Evelyn Summerford Caffee, Mildred Summerford Scarborough, Lavern Summerford Williams, Connie Summerford Ciprian, Jesse P. Summerford, Rich Fairley Summerford and his twin, Sherley Summerford.
