One of his granddaughters describes him as "a man whom everybody loved and respected and to whom people were wont to come for counsel and advice, a man of kind and pleasant disposition, with good common sense and ideas of his own.".
Another person says, "Hezekiah Augur was a sensible and thoroughly practical man, respected for his virtues and excellence of character, as well as for his mechanical genius and skill. He lived and died a worthy citizen and an exemplary member of the Congregational Church." .
