FAMED FISHERMAN DIES IN NEW YORK

Great Barrington - The funeral of George Michel Lucien LaBranche, 86, of 563 Park Ave., New York City, who for years had a summer home in Green River here, will take place this morning at 11 in St. James Episcopal Church, Madison Ave., New York. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery there.

He died Saturday in his home in New York City. Mr. LaBranche who was considered a top authority on fly fishing, established his reputation by writing two books that became recognized manuals.

They were "The Dry Fly and Fast Water," published in 1914, and "The Salmon and the Dry Fly" in 1924.

He was past president and last surviving charter member of the Anglers Club of New York and a member of the Fly Fishers Club of London. He was a member of the New York Stock Exchange for 44 years.

He leaves his wife, the former Emla Dunbar; two sons, George, Jr., of New York and North Egremont, and Robert of New York; three daughters, Mrs. Henri Z. Lake of East Hampton, N.Y., and the Misses Estelle of New York and Elizabeth LaBranche of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
