He was born December 25,1900. near Dexter, lowa, to George and Sarah (Sprecher) Carter. He attended school in Omaha, Neb., living a short time in Northern Wisconsin and Chicago. On December 24,1926, he married Evelyn Kopecky in Grand Parks, North Dakota. She preceded him in death on February 27,1992.
They lived in Omaha until 1943, moving back to Grand Forks. He was employed there by the Grand Forks Harold and later by Montgomery Wards. They returned to Omaha in 1948, moved to Doniphan, Mo. in 1950, and then in 1952, made their home in Enid. Over the years, Carter enjoyed such work as Post Office and telegraph, construction, farming, press operator. computer shipping and receiving clerk for Montgomery Wards. Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school teacher, laundry worker and Kiddy College. He was an avid reader, life-long Bible student and an earnest Christian worker. He especially loved the outdoors, children and church activities.
He is survived by the one son, Louis of Fisk, Mo.. two daughters Lucretia Carter of Soldama. Ala. ad Mrs. Lawrence (Marsha) Williams of Bethany. five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, Gayle Anderson and Wilma Harger of Omaha, Neb.. nine nieces. 10 nephews, several cousins, church family and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter. Ludmila in 1931, one brother and three sisters.
