Obituary
Miss Rovilla Dewing was born in Climer Village, Chautauqua County, New York, the 26th day of July, 1839. In early childhood she moved with her parents to the state of Michigan. She was married a number of years later to Mr. John Guest, at Glen Arbor, Michigan. After residing there for several years, they removed to Wisconsin, locating at Elkhorn, where Mr. Guest enlisted at the beginning of the civil war in the 28th Wisconsin Volunteers, serving three years and twenty-two days during the four year conflict between the states. At the war's close he moved with his family from Wisconsin to Ohio, and later, in the year 1872, to Kansas. A few years after Mr. Guest's death, which occurred at Kechi, in 1896, Mrs. Guest came to Hennessey, locating here in 1901. She united with the Congregational church a few years after taking up her residence in Hennessey. She had been a christian from early childhood and the narrow path of duty and love was closely followed, and she proved a faithful adherent in her affiliation. Although bedfast and suffering discomfort and pain that at times seemed unbearable, she offered no complaint, but attempted by her cheerfulness to lighten the burden of those she loved -- for those loving and patient hands that administered as far as possible to her every want -- whose tireless ministrations had stayed the hand of death.
Mrs. Guest was the mother of twenty children. Eight survive her: Norman Guest, Haysville, Kans.; Arthur Guest, Medford, Okla.; Mrs. Nora Cushing, and Mrs. Lizzie Morrison, of Woodward, Okla.; Mrs. Lou Armkee, of Hennessey; John Guest, of Furley, Kans.; Mrs. Mabel Hannon, of Hennessey, and James I. Guest, a soldier in the U. S. forces, "somewhere in France." Two sisters and one brother also survive her: Mrs. Carrie Baker, of Hennessey; Mrs. Almira Humphrey, of Corry, Penn., and H. L. Dewing, of Wichita, Kans.
