Alexander "Everett" Rice was the son of Robert Alonzo Rice and Carrie Mabel Eastvold. He graduated from Albert Lea High School (Minnesota) in 1935. In the next six years he lived at Mildred, Winnebago, and Hollandale, Minnesota. He enlisted in September, 1941. He died when his plane went down in 1943 with four other crew members, at Rabaul, New Britain, Papua New Guinea. He was a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Air Force and the navigator of the plane. At the time the bodies were found, individual identification was impossible, thus necessitating a group burial. Reburial Services were held on February 1, 1950, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Lt. Rice received the Presidential Citation, the Silver Star and a Purple Heart. Everett never married.
