James Carey (J.C.) McJenkins, Sr.
TUSCALOOSA - James Carey (J.C.) McJenkins, Sr., age 81, was called to be with his Lord on January 30, 1999 at 12:10 a.m. after a lengthy Illness. Funeral services will be on Monday, February I, at 11 a.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with burial at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 5:30-8 30 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home.
J.C was a loving and devoted husband, daddy, granddaddy, and great granddaddy.
Born In Pickens County, J.C. served three and one hall years of service In World War II and retired from the Veteran's Administration alter 33 1/2 years.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. (Mary) McJenkins; three brothers, Robert, George, and Emmett McJenkins.
He Is survived by his devoted wife. Myrtle Rice McJenkins; two sons, Jim (Sue Ellen) McJenkins, Tuscaloosa, and Don (Coal) McJenkins, Satsuma, Ala.; three daughters, Faye Dockery (Jim) Smith, Bainbridge, Ga.; Brenda Dockery (Chess) Conway, Dothan, Ala.; Linda Dockery (Harve) Johnson, LaPlace, La.; sixteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eunice (Will) Goodman, Northport, Gladys Noland, Corrine Acker, and Pauline Harcrow, Pickens County, sisters-in-law. Ethel McJenkins, Tuscaloosa, Mary Pate and Alice McJenkins, Columbus, Miss.; and a host of friends and relatives and J.C. (Sara) Carr, a lifetime friend who was like a brother.
Pallbearers will be nephews. Tommy McJenkins, Glenn Acker, Ricky Harcrow, Luther Noland, Larry McJenkins, and Jeff McJenkins.
Honorary pallbearers arc retired and present employees of the Veteran's Administration of Tuscaloosa, members of Alberta United Methodist Church, the Friendship Sunday School Class of Alberta United Methodist Church, Alberta United Methodist Church Men's Club, George and Hazel Mouchotte, Emmett and Betty Harless, Ralph and Vivian Williams, Jimmy and Barbara Ledbetter, Clarence and Jean Johnston, Johnny and Diane Walsh, Thomas and Joann Weaver, Dwight Whinery, Jane Whinery, Al HutchIns and Connie Davis of Seaton Health Care, members of VF 3123, Barbara and Bud Ball, James Jones, H.P., Jr., and Joyce Standrldge. Donna Jones, Linda and John Graham, Carla Johnson, Charles and Gloria Hunter, Jerry Mlms, and all friends and neighbors of 24th Ave. E.
