DOUGLAS STEPHEN D'AVINO, age 64, of Eastampton, NJ passed away from lung cancer on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mt. Holly, NJ.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sheila (Esposito); father Ralph and brother Carey (Mary Lou) D'Avino, both of Moorestown; and stepsisters Barbara Ann Rosko of Florida, Laura (James) Fogarty of Virginia, and Roberta (James) Carter of California. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Predeceased by his mother Rita (Rosenberg) and stepmother Diana (Piedra).

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. D'Avino grew up on Long Island, NY. After graduating college, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force, primarily in Germany. This was followed by a long civilian career as a software systems engineer. His last employment was at NAVMAR Applied Sciences Corp. in Warminster, PA, ending when he became ill in 2007. An avid learner, Doug earned a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (where he met and married his wife) and an M.S. in Management from the University of Arkansas. His interests ranged from the love of animals to the history of New Jersey post offices.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, NJ where a service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
