HARRODSBURG, Ky.. May 13 (Special); Mrs,' Sarah, 'Bowman Smock. 87. member of a prominent pioneer Kentucky family, died at 10, o'clock Wednesday morning in Haggin Memorial hospital. The widow of Lee - Smock. - prominent Harrodsburg businessman, she was a daughter of Nancy Lewis Cook and Thomas Bowman, she was born, at Viney Grove Farm in Mercer county.

Smock was the - first woman to take a plane rid over Harrodsburg' for the Army 's. purpose of promoting bond sales. " She was active in the ("Pioneer Memorial Association responsible for the construction of Fort Harrod in pioneer Memorial State : Park here. She held various offices In the Harrodsburg Woman's Club and was active : in the Mercer County Fair, flora Show Assco. She was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church, she taught Its women's Bible class for many years.
