Hazel Elizabeth Anderson, the daughter of the late Ole and Kristina (Bolin) Thompson, was born March 20, 1920, in Lincoln Twp. of Marshall Co., near Strandquist, MN.

She attended the Strandquist School through the eighth grade and worked on her parent's farm. Hazel served in the Women's Air Corp from Nov. 1943 until discharge in Dec. of 1945.

She was united in marriage to Morris Anderson June 4, 1947, at Karlstad and they made their home in Strandquist.

In 1950, they moved to Longview, WA, for a year before returning to Strandquist. In 1956, they purchased their farm in Lincoln Twp. where they raised grain and had dairy cattle for many years. Hazel worked at the Hartz Store in Karlstad, Arctic Enterprises in Karlstad and at the North Star Motor Inn in Karlstad until 1999. She and Morris moved into Oakwood Apartments in Karlstad in Feb. of 2008.

Morris passed away Feb. 2, 2012, and Hazel moved to the Meadows Assisted Living in Nov. of 2012 and to the Karlstad Healthcare Center in May of this year. She passed away there on Fri. morning, June 20, 2014, at the age of 94 years and 3 months.

She is survived by four children, 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, two sisters in addition to many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 5 sisters: Bertha Thompson, Dorothy Thompson, Mary Renstrom, Elsie Lefrooth, and Myrtle Sands; 5 brothers: Ernest, Vernon "Red", Peter, George Walter, and Isaac Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Mon. at the Karlstad Gospel Tabernacle with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. Visitation will be after 6 P.M. Sun. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel, Karlstad, and at the church one hour prior to services Mon. morning.

Interment will be in the Karlstad Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Strandquist American Legion Post #466.
